I have been involved in the design of saddles for more than thirty years. This was initially for my own personal use, but admiration of my work and requests from pupils and students, lead me to build up a talented team of craftsmen who shared my passion for perfection and Creaton Saddles was born!
For me it is imperative that each saddle fits the rider as well as the horse and does the job it is meant to do. Therefore each saddle is made to order and produced from start to finish by a single craftsman in my team. For this reason I tend not to carry stock items with me so, if you contact me either through the website or on the phone, I will make an appointment to come out to discuss your requirements and of course give you further information including prices.
You can be assured that we use the very best English full grained vegetable slow tanned leather butts and hides for all saddles and bridlework. This leather is tanned in the traditional way and then hand finished. There is a choice of leather available, but to give you some idea the following may be used by request... Buffalo leather (English tanned and oiled not foreign tanned) - Memel leather which is pit tanned using the traditional process taking 14 weeks. This produces strong heavy flap leather that is incredibly soft and affording good grip - the finest French Calf for the ultimate in luxury on seats, pads and panels and of course flaps and skirts - Pigskin is the traditional seat and pad covering and is extremely hard wearing but only offers a limited availability and colour choice.
We offer various options on our saddles. For instance, our Dressage saddles can be made with adjustable stirrup bars either ‘Wellep’ or ‘Cotterill' and a fixed ‘E’ stirrup bar can also be used allowing the placement of the stirrup leather further back. Velcro knee blocks can be fitted to many of our saddles on request.
The colours we can offer you are... London Natural Newmarket Print - Plain Military Brown Print - Salamanca Brown Print - Plain Dark Havana Print - Plain Black Print.
